Quote to Live By: “Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do anything/something- because you CAN”

I recently became engaged to this outstanding woman, and wanted to share with you what makes her so special...I first met Amy when she was a volunteer with the USO in NJ. I had been sent to Iraq from 2004 - 2005, and while overseas, my wife at the time took me for all I was worth, ruined my credit and pretty much ruined my life. When I touched ground back in the US, I was served divorce papers. She never even let me see my kids, who I had not seen in a year.

But through all this pain was Amy...she became my friend and took me under her wing. With a heart of gold, she stuck by my side through good times and bad. I was also injured while overseas, and could not return to my civilian job. Amy helped me through the stressful and taxing medical board process in the Army, and told me to never give up. I almost did a few times, but she kept me strong. She helped me with all of my VA forms and retirement process. Together we made it through. Today she helps me with our non-profit organization helping wounded soldiers like myself.

She works full time at Cornell, but in her spare time, she does the bookeeping, marketing, web design and ALL the business part of the organization. We host wounded soldiers at our home to hunt and fish (free of charge), and she also does the cooking, cleaning and housekeeping duties when the soldiers are up. She even hunts with them! She manages my medications and keeps me on track. I have a Traumatic Brain Injury, and have problems with memory, but she will call and remind me of the things I have to do. She also helps any of the soldiers that come to us with their paperwork and anything they need. When not doing all this, she also volunteers weekly at the SPCA and writes for outdoor magazines! If anyone defines the word outstanding, it is Amy. Liberty Lodge Outfitters
